Dr. Sylvia Earle was the winner of the 2009 Ted Prize. Her Ted Talk Wish:

Sylvia Earle is President and Chairman of Mission Blue / The Sylvia Earle Alliance. She is a National Geographic Society Explorer in Residence, and is called Her Deepness by the New Yorker and the New York Times, Living Legend by the Library of Congress, and first Hero for the Planet by Time Magazine. She is an oceanographer, explorer, author and lecturer with experience as a field research scientist, government official, and director for several corporate and non-profit organizations.

Waters' portrait of Major Edward Allworth was commissioned by
Oregon Percent for Art and the Oregon Department of Veteran's
Affairs for the Edward Allworth Veteran's Home in Lebanon, Oregon.
Allworth was a Medal of Honor Recipient in World War 1. After
distinguishing himself in war, he returned to Oregon and was the
Director of the Oregon State University Memorial Union for over 30
years.
The portrait plus two additional paintings ("Seal Cove, Salmon River Estuary" and Wizard Island Sky, Crater Lake) are now in the collection of the State of Oregon and will be permanently exhibited at the Edward Allworth Veteran's Home.

The painting, "One Water", oil on linen, 36 by 88", was recently purchased by the Oregon Percent for Art Program. It is displayed in the new Health and Wellness Center at Western Oregon University.
