Waters' portrait of Major Edward Allworth was commissioned by Oregon Percent for Art and the Oregon Department of Veteran's Affairs for the Edward Allworth Veteran's Home in Lebanon, Oregon. Allworth was a Medal of Honor Recipient in World War 1. After distinguishing himself in war, he returned to Oregon and was the Director of the Oregon State University Memorial Union for over 30 years.
The portrait plus two additional paintings ("Seal Cove, Salmon River Estuary" and Wizard Island Sky, Crater Lake) are now in the collection of the State of Oregon and will be permanently exhibited at the Edward Allworth Veteran's Home.
"The Oregon Veterans' Home in Lebanon is proud to have the portrait of Edward C. Allworth, by artist April Waters, on display at our fine facility. Truly this is The Place Where Honor Lives, and we are honored to have three of Waters' paintings showcased. We all love the paintings, they've really enhanced our facility and the lives of our veterans."
